Proper construction is the foundation to safety. Please be aware that even in diving pools it is unsafe to dive from the pool deck into any part of the pool. This applies to all residential swimming pools and is dictated by the APSP.
To help remind you of this and to make your guests aware of this Fox supplies NO DIVING signs with all new pools and liners. Each liner is embossed in the proper area with, “no diving label” to indicate the proper area to affix the label. Make sure you affix these labels and make sure no one removes or defaces them. If you choose to install a diving board, be certain that the manufacturer’s size and placement instructions are followed exactly.

Diving boards must be installed in accordance with the APSP safety guidelines. You can obtain a copy of these guidelines directly from the APSP at 2111 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22314 or visit their web site at. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in serious injury or death. In addition to the no diving labels, Fox supplies you with an area sign indicating proper pool usage. You must display this sign to alert all pool users of the proper usage.Be sure your pool is properly lighted for nighttime usage.
Your builder can discuss several options for lighting you pool properly that will not only enhance safety but will provide you with dazzling colors to beautify your pool and backyard.Steps and ladders are another important element of your pool. Steps or a ladder should be installed in the shallow end of your pool if the water is more than 2 feet deep and a ladder must be installed in the deep end. Fencing around your pool is also an important consideration. Most local codes require some type of barrier to prevent children from accessing the pool area. Typically, an enclosure must be least 4 foot high and include a self-closing gate.
Check with your local codes inspector to find out the requirements for your area. Finally, never allow children or infants in or around your pool without constant adult supervision. Never swim alone and do not swim when under the influence of alcohol or certain prescription medication. Always keep a rescue ring or other rescue device handy in case someone in the pool needs assistance. Read your Fox Owner's Manual and other safety information provided with your pool.NOTICE: Although the safety line and floats should remain on the pool at all times, some have been removed for photographic purposes only. Safety lines and floats must be permanently attached whenever the pool is in use. Fox Pools strongly recommends the use of handrails or grab rails with all pool stairs and ladders for user safety and convenience.
